Dads v The Workers
By

Gulp,
finally - couldn't stay away from them any longer. Ain't got the faintest
who's turning up or who's got the kit.
late extra - Harry can't make it, he's on duty at the london eye. what
an amazing life he leads, goodness know what he can be getting up to 'on
duty' at the eye, Darren played yesterday and his mum won't let him out,
Andy has pulled his groin - what's new and Tony O's getting taken out
to dinner by thomas. John F was sent on a tour of the astro pitches in
Hampshire by Jon E - starting at 7:30 and arrived after kick-off with
Jason F. late, late extra - Harry had the kit but Dave H came to the resue
with the Dads spare red tops that he found at the back of his garage.
He might have washed them before he stored them. it was like a Australian
bordello in the changing room what with the sweat, the deodorant and the
horse linement.
Springhill Dads
Robbie Thorpe
Tim Hart - Brian Medway - Tony Pascoe - Mal Barton
John Lynch - Jim Allen - Dave Hedge - Martin Kingsbury
Jon Elms - Dave Smith
subs; Jason Franklin, John Frisby.
The first half was the usual tight affair with the Workers. And
then a cross to the far post and Dave Smith rose above the meleé
to head home. Oh, Oh, if that didn't open the flood gates.
Half Time
Workers 0 - 1 Dads
At half time Mal B and half fit John L made way
for Jason F and John F. Jon E went to left back and Jason went up
front. the idea was to keep it tight in the second half to deny the workers
any scoring chances and hopefully nick a chance or two themselves. a lightening
break out of defence, a ball up to Dave S, one on one with the keeper.
The keeper made a terrific last gasp block but Dave Smith
put the ball away from the narrowest angle.
A corner wasn't cleared and a Tim's arm accidentally
made contact with the ball. The Dads had to award them a penalty
or it looked like they might cry and run off with their ball. The
ball was placed on the spot with Robbie doing his best Bruce Grobelaar
impression. Robbie dived to the right and the ball was driven down
the middle.
A long ball out to Dave S sprinting up the right flank.
His cross into the area was met by Jason Franklin with a
perfect volley into the back of the net - the keeper beaten all ends up.
The
Dads did really well to keep their shape and frustrate any workers possession.
Their frustration found an outlet in a fairly steady stream of moans
and groans. Accusing our hero's of fouls and intimidation then the
right back tried to kick Tony P up in the air only to cripple himself.
Full Time
Workers 1 - 3 Dads
Moment of the match you've seen at the footie - the trainer running around
the pitch putting out water bottles? well, cross my heart, this really
is true - up at Thornden (scene of the famous victory over the wingers)
The Dads had asthma inhalers placed up either side of the pitch, and they
were in regular use!
